Reality interferes with fantasy...

When Jeff is injured in an accident, there's no time for dungeon play. Traction is like non-consensual bondage, and Jeff calls "red." Roman's love for Jeff is as strong as Roman himself, but how much can a man lose before he gives up everything?

Club owner Roman has the perfect Master/slave relationship with his life-partner Jeff, and when they increase the eroticism of their play by bringing Dare into their bed, Roman has everything a man in his position could ever want.

Until the accident.

Now the triangle is completely unbalanced.

Sometimes life is messy, and decisions made in crisis have ramifications far beyond the moment. If Roman manages to sort it all out, will Jeff come back?

You can take the Master out of the dungeon, but can you take the Dungeon Master out of Roman?

You can take the Master out of the dungeon, but can you take the Dungeon Master out of Roman?

Realistically, I give this 2.5 stars.
Here's my problem with this second installment: Editing.
The story line is fine. Though I found myself skimming over everything that included Van and her sudden need for Suede because I found it ridiculous and Van annoying and ignorant. She was a doormat. Period. The shift in Jeff I get and I liked the growth in Roman. I adored Gigi. BUT, that said, a good pre-reading and proofing team should have pointed out the numerous errors. One, Dare mentions his time with Jeff and Roman and the "sex". I remember thinking "Wait! We missed his first time!?" Only to find out later they NEVER had actual intercourse. Which also leads me to my complaint that how does Dare - who never really showed an interest in men - suddenly decide he's gay? Or is he? Cause he's apparently still on the fence weeks/months later. Second, the Van/Roman storyline was predictable. I'll leave it at that. Third, there are multiple times that the authors wrote 'Dare' instead of 'Roman' when Roman was in Minnesota. that's such an easy fix, there really is no excuse for it.
These are only a few of the issues I had with this book and why I won't be buying book 3. No matter how intriguing I may find Roman, I can't deal with Van and the inevitable Jeff jealousies again. Plus, I'm pretty sure I can see what's going to happen in book 3, so there's little room for surprise. And I just can't deal with more 3rd person / 1st person intermingled writing. It's hard to understand and I'm not a fan of this format.
Overall, it's a decent end to the cliff hanger the author forced us into in book 1. And I'll leave it at that.

Out of the Dungeon Dungeon series Book 2 edition by SM Johnson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

In the second book in the series the actual sex play doesn't play such a big role. More important is the relationships that become more and more complicated as time goes and things happen. The first book was better but the characters still captures my interest.
Less of a romance and more of season 2 of the dungeon drama. If you love the omniscient Top troupe who reads minds and gets everything right you won't enjoy this book lol. Five starts alone for Gigi, a star removed for editing gaffes. At least twice Roman was called Dare and it tosses you out the story. Excited to read part 3
WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CONTINUATION OF THE STORY OF DARE, ROMAN AND JEFF. FELT DARE WAS GOTTEN RID OF AND
ALL OF THE SUEDE AND VANESSA STUFF WENT ON TOO LONG. ON THE PLUS SIDE SOME INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT IN ROMAN'S
CHARACTER.

THE ENDING DID REDEEM ITSELF A BIT WITH A MATURE JEFF AND ROMAN AND VANESSA. ONE ASSUMES THERE WILL BE ANOTHER
VOLUME OF THIS TALE AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN DETAIL TO DARE AND HOW HE RECONNECTS WITH
ROMAN & JEFF.
This wonderful story continues with Roman and Jeff struggling with traumatic events. Dare decides that this is not the lifestyle for him. Vanessa can't keep her world from falling apart and she has the biggest news of all. This is just an ever changing adventure that has a terrific cast of characters. I can't wait to see where they are going to be when the dust settles. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AFFORDABLE SERIES!!
Book 2 continues life for Roman. It's different, not one he wants, but accepts. The reader feels it, and possibly, like myself, wonders why the author developed book 2 this way. Questions, like what happened for Jeff to change after he accepted Dare during their flogging in book one to make him want to stop being Roman's slave? Why was Jeff so against Dare when Jeff fell in love with others? A good author goes where her characters take her, but I feel more relationship story on Roman, Jeff, and Dare would have been given. Let us see they weren't working before the accident.
Oh no...this ends on an upward swing to HEA. Argh. Hopefully there will be a book 3 because these characters are now firmly entrenched in my life & I NEED to know what happens next.

This book is quite different to the first in that it explores the problems with BDSM when the real world tries to interfere. I'm not saying that it wasn't a good book, merely that it felt more like a transition book rather than a complete, independent story. I'll forgive Johnson for this when book 3 happens. I deducted the 5th star because there were annoying typos in the book which spoiled the experience. Especially when the character was called by the wrong name...makes me snippy as I have to pause & confirm context to see who was actually talking/experiencing the scene. If you loved Above the Dungeon then this book is essential reading; but I wouldn't try to read this book as a stand-alone title.

Okay so I faced my fears and decided to read the second book. The first was so emotionally intense, I honestly wasn't sure I could stomach it. But I loved the characters so much, and especially the author's subtly fantastic writing style, that I couldn't deny the urge to forge forward for long. I think I held out for like half a day. LOL Anyway, to my delight and despair (I know, odd, can't explain it) it wasn't nearly as emotionally angsty. Which made for an easier read. For that i was grateful. Like the others, I was surprised by the route the story took, but in retrospect can see with great clarity why the author chose that path. Dare's outcome both saddened me and gave me much needed reprieve. I truly believe he needs Roman on some level, and Roman needs him, too. But the situation is just too profound for that to seem possible. Other aspects are really great though. I never really got into the Van sub-plot but was very grateful that Dare was still present through out on some level.
I really truly love this story, despite the tugging its been doing on my heart.
